~Book Review: Trapped by Beverley Kendall~

Trapped
Beverley Kendall

My life has turned out to be such a cliché. And not in a good way.

It’s not exactly Sixteen and Pregnant, but at eighteen my only advantage is a high school diploma. And if that’s not enough, the father—and I use that term loosely—couldn’t have hightailed it out of my life fast enough.

I thought I really knew him. Unfortunately, my boyfriend of three years transformed from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde once he realized his carefree, childless days would be coming to an end.

I’m over him now though. The real love of my life is chubby, has more gum than teeth, and stands a little over two feet tall. She may not have been planned, but I’ve never regretted having her. She is the center of my world.

A world that's been turned upside down when Mitch returns ready to earn the love and trust of the child he abandoned before birth.

Letting him into my daughter’s life is one thing but letting him back into mine isn't going to happen. Ever.

Now if only I can get my heart to heed the lessons of the past.

This is an unusual and complicated love story between Mitch and Paige.  When Paige found out she was pregnant, Mitch thought she did it on purpose and left her to go to college.  Forced to go through her pregnancy alone, Paige always held out hope that Mitch would come back to her.  Even after the birth of Bree, Mitch stills stays away until a visit from his sister makes him curious about what he left behind.

When Mitch meets his daughter, he falls in love instantly.  He realizes what a jerk he has been and sets out to redeem himself.  He has a lot of lost time to make up for, especially with Paige.  Will it be too late or will these two finally have a shot at being a real family?

This is a sweet story.  I really liked Mitch, even though he needed to grow up.  He thought that Paige got pregnant on purpose and I can see his point of view.  He never gave her a chance to explain  though before he just left.  Paige and Mitch are miserable without each other.  Mitch turns out to be a great dad who loves spending time with his daughter and getting to know her.  He also does everything in his power to try and get Paige back.  Paige is such a strong character who is crazy about her daughter.  She didn't get the choice to leave, she had her daughter and takes the very best care of her.

A very good fast read that will make you angry and happy at the same time.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for a fair and honest review.  This did not influence my review.
