One Past Midnight

Expected Release Date:  July 22, 2014

Name of overseas edition of Between The Lives.
Above all else, though I try not to think about it, I know which life I prefer. And every night when I Cinderella myself from one life to the next a very small, but definite, piece of me dies. The hardest part is that nothing about my situation has ever changed. There is no loophole.

Until now, that is...

For as long as she can remember, Sabine has lived two lives. Every 24 hours she Shifts to her ′other′ life - a life where she is exactly the same, but absolutely everything else is different: different family, different friends, different social expectations. In one life she has a sister, in the other she does not. In one life she′s a straight-A student with the perfect boyfriend, in the other she′s considered a reckless delinquent. Nothing about her situation has ever changed, until the day when she discovers a glitch: the arm she breaks in one life is perfectly fine in the other.

With this new knowledge, Sabine begins a series of increasingly risky experiments which bring her dangerously close to the life she′s always wanted... But just what - and who - is she really risking?

My thoughts:

Sabine has always had two lives.  Every 24 hours at midnight she shifts from one life to another.  In both lives she is named Sabine, but that is where the similarities end.  One of her lives is perfect.  She has all the right clothes, perfect parents, wonderful friends and the perfect boyfriend.  Sabine wishes that she could stay in this life forever and tries to think of ways to make that happen.  Her other life is totally different.  Her parents work all the time and are never around, they don't trust her and she has only one friend.

While Sabine is experimenting, trying to stay in her perfect world, things go wrong.  During this time she meets Ethan in her not so perfect world.  Meeting and getting to know Ethan makes Sabine think about what she really wants out of her lives and maybe that her perfect world isn't so perfect after all.

WOW!  This book was so amazing.  When I first started reading it I did not think I would like it as much as I did.  While her one life was so perfect, I was thinking that things were too good to be true and sure enough they were.  Sabine was so unhappy (in both worlds) until she meet Ethan.  He opened her eyes and showed her that life was worth living even if we don't get to pick it.  It shows us that true love will always find a way.  You will laugh and cry but the ending will blow you away.  I will definitely recommend this book to everyone.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for a fair and honest review.  This in no way influenced my review.
