Normalish

October 5th 2012 / Musa Publishing Euterpe Young Adult imprint
Fifteen-year-old Stacy questions the strange world of high school, love, her role in a harsh universe, and life, in Normalish.
People tell you high school's so great and wonderful, but they're lying. It's mostly horrible and full of disappointment. It sucks. Your best friend abandons you. The jerk you're in love with pretends to be into you, and then the big dump. The boy you've really clicked with as a friend decides to go all crushy over you, so you break his heart just like yours was -- smashed into little pieces. Your sister goes mental, and you get involved with a guy who’s even crazier than she is (who you know is a very bad idea, but you do it anyway). Math only adds another stink of failure to the whole thing.
High school blows. Just ask freshman Stacy. She’d want you to know.

MY REVIEW:
Normalish is one of those rare book that takes us inside the life of a teenager and dares to ask just what does normal mean? Stacy is a fifteen year old freshman dealing with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Her father has died, her mother works too much, and her older sister is acting more weird than usual. To make matters worse, the wrong guy likes her. Can life get much worse? When Stacy's sister has to go away for a while, she meets the perfect guy, the one she has been looking for all her life. The trouble is he has issues of his own.
This is a raw and honest story about the "joys" of high school. Remember the high school transition when your old friends desert and you suddenly have to find new friends? Having the wrong guy like you and praying the popular bad boy will glance your way? Normalish is the book to read if you have ever ask what does normal really mean? Stacy struggles not to fit in, but just to survive. It is so hard to go into this book without revealing too much of the plot. You have to read it for yourself. With short, quick chapters it won't take you long to read this fabulous book. I recommend it for all!
