~Review and Giveaway: Hard Knox by Nicole Williams~

The Outsider Chronicles, #1
New Adult/Adult Contemporary
Released August 12, 2014

Knox Jagger. The name inspires resent in every male at Sinclair University, want in every female, and contempt in Charlie Chase.

Charlie can be summed up in three words: independent, independent, and independent. To Charlie, Knox epitomizes everything that’s wrong with college males: prolific one-night stands, drunken senseless fights, and a body that hints at prioritizing gym time over study time.

As an up-and-coming writer for Sinclair University’s newspaper, Charlie’s tasked with getting to the bottom of who’s been dropping little white pills into girls’ drinks at parties. In an ocean of All-American boys sporting polo shirts and innocent smiles, Knox is the obvious suspect. As evidence piles up against the bad boy of Sinclair, Charlie becomes more and more certain it isn’t Knox. But when her drink is dosed at a party and she wakes up on Knox’s couch the next morning, Charlie’s left with more questions than answers when it comes to Knox Jagger.

How can Charlie ever hope to uncover the truth behind a guy so closed off he’s become . . .

Hard Knox.

My thoughts about Hard Knox

Charlie Chase is an up and coming star reporter for her college paper.  Independent and fierce, nothing or NO ONE stops her from getting the story.  The last thing she wants to do is attend an endless string of boring frat parties watching college kids make fools out of themselves.  But if that is what it takes to get the story, Charlie is all over it.  Unfortunately, Charlie is the one who gets something slipped into her drink at one of these get togethers.  Waking up the next morning not remembering much she finds herself on the couch of resident bad boy, Knox Jagger.  Word around campus is that Knox is bad news and the guy that every girl wishes she had.

When circumstances change, Charlie feels that the only person she can trust is Knox.  But is he lying to her too?  With a painful past and old scars that can not be healed, is Knox the right person for Charlie to trust?

First, I really liked this book.  Nicole Williams tacked such a terrible and horrific problem on college campuses today.  It tells us what can happen and how most people choose to ignore it.  Charlie Chase is a breath of fresh air.  She is tough and doesn't need anyone as she often states throughout the book.  Knox Jagger is the guy that every girl wants to be with but he only has eyes for Charlie.  A tough, bad boy with a heart of gold that he keeps closely guarded.  His past makes it hard for him to form natural relationships with people around him but he is always there when Charlie needs him.

What I didn't like?  I did not like the length of the chapters.  I like shorter chapters simply because it holds my attention better and breaks the story down smoother.  I did not like Charlie's feminist professor who is on a self journey to destroy Knox Jagger.  The guy never did anything personally to her and she hates him venomously and attempts to turn everyone else against him.

All in all I really liked the book.  I would recommend that you read it and I look forward to many more books by Nicole Williams.

Thank you to Atomr Book Tours and Nicole Williams for sending me a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.  This in no way influenced my thoughts.

About the Author Nicole Williams

I’m the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the CRASH series (HarperTeen, S&S UK), LOST & FOUND series, UP IN FLAMES (S&S UK), The EDEN TRILOGY, and a handful of others. I write stories about everyday kinds of people who find themselves in extraordinary kinds of situations. I tell love stories with happy endings because I believe in making the world a better place, and that’s one tiny way I can make it so. I’m one of those people who still believe in true love and soul mates, and would rather keep my head in the clouds any day over having my feet firmly on the ground.
