Dragon School: First Flight
Sarah K.L. Wilson
Kindle Edition105 pages
Expected publication: January 3rd 2018

Sixteen-year-old Amel arrived at Dragon School just like everyone else – with a dream to ride dragons and join the Dominion Dragon Riders.

But Amel has a crippled leg and Dragon School training is grueling. Before she can even become an initiate, she must complete her First Flight on a dragon.

Can Amel survive First Flight and become a Dragon School initiate or will her dreams dash on the rocks below?

Fans of Anne McCaffrey’s Dragon Riders of Pern, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon and Rachel E. Carter’s First Year will love Dragon School.

My thoughts and review

Amel Leafbrought has always dreamt of being a dragon rider and joining the elite Dragon Riders.  The only thing holding her back is her crippled leg.  She can't keep up with the other trainers and some may be out to sabotage her chances.  When she meets her dragon, Raolcan, there is an instant connection and she knows she has made the right decision.  But will she ever find the strength or courage to ride him?

With so much to prove to herself and others, will she be able to fulfill her dream or fall to her doom?

This is really a great, well written short story about the beginning of Amel and Raolcans story.  I usually don't like fantasy stories but I enjoyed this one immensely.  Amel is such a strong character and never thinks about giving up on her dreams.  I am looking forward to reading and reviewing the next book in this series.
