On tour with Prism Book Tours...

Lancaster House
Lancaster House
by Taylor Dean
Paperback, 304 pages
Published June 7th 2012 by Createspace

Premise:

Zoe Grayson needs a change. So, she moves to another state, purchases an old, dilapidated 1920s Victorian Mansion, and sets out to restore it to its former glory. As she begins the restoration, she finds herself falling in love with the old house . . . not to mention its illustrious builder, Mr. Lancaster. Zoe becomes obsessed with the house as she discovers its secrets; hidden rooms, secret passageways . . . and a mysterious man who seems to think the house is his. Who is he? More importantly, how does he live in her home unseen and unheard?

The unexpected answers leave her reeling—and questioning everything she’s ever known. To her dismay, Zoe’s actions land her in the local psychiatric hospital, scheming for ways to return to Lancaster House . . . and the love of her life.

MY REVIEW:
Zoe Grayson has just purchased her dream house.  A 1920's Victorian Mansion that she is going to slowly fix up and restore.  She loves the old house with all of its secret passages and history.  People think it is strange for her to live alone in such a big house but she has never been happier.  With a hefty inheritance , Zoe can work on the house at her leisure and  not have to worry about income.  Then strange things start to happen.  Is Zoe imagining things or is some unseen force behind it?  Zoe meets and has an instant attract to a handsome.  Who is he and where did he come from?  He has obviously been living in her house but how does he come and go without her knowledge?  Zoe tells us her story of love and heartbreak through her psychiatrist at the local hospital.

Another wonderful book written by the wonderful Taylor Dean.  Just when you think you have figured out what is going on, you are blow away with more surprises.  Zoe is such a wonderful character.  You feel for her and want desperately to believe her story.   After you read this book you will believe in true love and that it can withstand anything, even time.  A wonderful clean love story that will keep you up all night to finish reading it.  I recommend this book to everyone.  You will love it!

The Middle Aisle (Lancaster House)The Middle Aisle
by Taylor Dean
Paperback, 356 pages
Published November 26th 2012 by Create Space

Premise:

Zoe Grayson is back in Lancaster House, ordered to bed rest for the duration of her unexpected pregnancy. Doctor Wade Channing, her overzealous psychiatrist, is living in Lancaster House, taking care of her, waiting on her, and tending to her every need. It seems to be the perfect arrangement.

There’s just one catch.

She has to tell him her story—everything that has happened in her life since the moment she escaped from Serenity Hills. It’s been quite an adventure to include renovating another home and a walk down the middle aisle.

But, that’s all over now. Nothing is real. It never was.

How did she end up in this miserable situation?

MY REVIEW:
Zoe Grayson has returned to Lancaster House.  After her daring escape, she is back in the care of her psychiatrist, Dr. Wade Channing.  Dr. Channing has never gave up on Zoe and is hoping to finally cure her so she can live in reality.  First, she has to tell him everything.  Everything that has happened since she escaped from Serenity Hills.  Zoe has been busy with a story so unbelievable that it can't be true.  While Zoe tells an amazing tale, Dr Channing starts to wonder if maybe she is telling the truth.  Not only does she have herself to take care of, she is now pregnant.  Will Zoe convince Dr. Channing that her story is true or will she have to face reality and realize that nothing about her life is real?

I didn't think that this book would be as good as the first one but I was wrong.  Taylor Dean is a literary genius.  Each one of her books is better than the last. I love this book so much.  How frustrating it must be for Zoe to have no one believe anything she is saying.  I could go on and on about this book but I don't want to give anything away.  You will believe when you get finished reading about the life of Zoe Grayson.  Be sure to read Lancaster House first or you will not know what is going on.  Please read this series if you have the chance.  It is so good.  You will laugh and cry!  Thank you so much to Taylor Dean for gifting these books to me for a fair and honest review.  I am honored to be a part of this blog tour.

Another American Idol performance that inspired a scene in Lancaster House

Guest Post with Taylor Dean

If you’ve followed along on this tour, then you know Adam Lambert’s performance of ‘Mad World’ in the Season 8 finale inspired me to write Lancaster House.

There is one other performance of Adam’s that inspired a certain scene in Lancaster House. I don’t want to give too much away and spoil the story, but there is a certain scene where the hero and heroine are separated. The resulting romantic angst in this scene is extreme. In this scene the heroine falls to her knees and screams the hero’s name several times. I actually watched this particular performance of Adam’s several times as I wrote the scene.

It was disco night on American Idol. Adam surprised us all by doing a ballad of “If I can’t Have You.” It was an amazing rendition. As he sings the song, there is one note where he just . . . screams-sings, for lack of a better word. To me that note was filled with the romantic angst that I wanted to capture in my scene of Lancaster House.

Watch the video on YOU TUBE

If Lancaster House was ever made into a movie, (wishful thinking) I would vote for this song to be played during this particular scene. That’s how much the song is tied to the scene in my head!

I love the interior decor in the ballroom of the Winchester mansion

*Now follow along to tomorrow’s post to hear about my personal experience with an old, creepy house at LDS & Lovin' It . . .
